Glucomannan is a type of fiber in the roots of the elephant yam. It absorbs water in your gut upon ingestion, causing satiety, or a feeling of fullness, that prompts you to eat less food.
Research published in Nutrition reports that glucomannan led to weight loss in overweight adults involved in a study. Glucomannan can also promote healthy gut bacteria, lower blood sugar, manage constipation, and balance blood triglycerides and cholesterol.
Inulin isnt absorbed or digested in the stomach. It goes to ones bowel, and bacteria use it to grow. This bacteria can improve ones bowel function and general health. Nutrition & Metabolism also finds that inulin can prevent the body from having unique fats that can lead to extra weight.
Collagen is a structural protein that affects multiple systems in our bodies, such as our skin, gastrointestinal tract, hair, muscular tissue, and joint bones. Dr Kellyann is big on using intermittent fasting in conjunction with the bone broth. In another article,Nutrients highlights that intermittent fasting is equivalent to continuous energy restriction diets in terms of results, though.

Cons Of Dr Kellyann’s Bone Broth Diet
I personally did not like the mini-fast days. The fasting days are highly encouraged but actually optional. I decided to forgo the fasting days in week 2.
Its hard to order takeout on the bone broth diet. In my house, we generally dine out or get takeout three nights per week. So for 21 days, I cooked dinner almost every night.
I probably felt more hunger on the bone broth diet than I do on keto. It was not unpleasant but I also don’t enjoy feeling empty.
If you cheat or fall off the wagon on the diet, you are supposed to start all over again. I personally am not a person that does life perfectly so there were times I wanted to just grab 2 fries off my husbands plate. I didnt like feeling guilty, though technically I did not follow the plan as written. I get that this is a personal mindset issue and not really a con of the diet.

Even though Dr. Kellyann is not BBB accredited, it earned a C- and 1 out of 5 stars based on seven customer reviews. The majority of the complaints against Dr. Kellyann pertain to problems with a product purchased from the company. Some products people have had issues with include bone broth. There are also reports of fraudulent charges. A total of 13 complaints with the BBB have been closed in the last three years with 11 of those happening in the previous 12 months.
