What Exactly Is A Gluten

A gluten-free diet plan consists of a diet without all the foods that naturally have gluten in them. For people with severe reactions to gluten, it would be best to avoid any product that has come in contact with gluten in any form. For instance, if the water used to clean a product that has gluten in it has been used to steam your vegetables, this is indirect consumption of gluten. This can happen in restaurants. Also, avoid using the same containers and spoons used for gluten-free and other preparations.

Is Gluten An Additive Or Naturally

According to the US public health organization Food and Drugs administration _, some grains are likely to contain naturally-occurring gluten in them. This includes wheat, barley, rye and hybrids of wheat and rye like triticale. Some products have it as an additive. For instance, gluten is added to bread to make it rise more easily it also improves the texture and structure. Cakes, pizzas, and pasta also have gluten in them.

Using Olivia Popes Glasses To Drink Wine

A womans daily alcohol intake is one glass of 5 ounces far from the size of an Olivia Popes glass, which carries up to 23 oz!

A glass of wine has 120 calories, and your body burns alcohol calories first in order to get them out of your system as quickly as possible.

This implies that dietary calories are placed on hold, making weight loss more difficult.

And, of course, alcohol increases your appetite, causing you to consume more food with each sip.

Eat Less Processed Foods

Another reason the whole food approach works so well is because many whole foods are naturally gluten free! However, when it comes to “gluten-free substitutes” or more processed options, it’s important to take note that just because something is gluten-free does not mean that it is healthy.

Many gluten-free products use rice flour, coconut flour, or almond flour as the substitute that allows that product to become gluten-free. However, just because the cupcake does not contain gluten, does not mean that the product isn’t high in calories, fat and added sugar. Pay attention to whether or not these foods offer any nutritional benefits – like protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Making something gluten free also doesn’t mean it is lower in calories. In fact, sometimes it ends up containing more calories than the gluten containing version of the food.

For Example: A Gluten Free Cupcake from Sprinkles = 497 caloriesA Vanilla Cupcake with Frosting from Sprinkles= 485 calories

Understanding this principle is extremely important when triggering weight loss while following a gluten-free diet, because it brings us to our next point: calories in versus calories out.

What Does Gluten Do To Your Body

Everyone reacts differently to gluten, which can cause problems for some sensitive individuals. According to The Mayo Clinic, gluten can cause fatigue, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss, and malnutrition, particularly for those sensitive to it.

If you have celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that causes the body to attack itself after exposure to gluten, you must not touch gluten altogether. Also, be sure to avoid cross contamination .

This immune system response can damage the lining of the small intestines, making it hard for your body to absorb nutrients.

Celiac disease symptoms can be severe, including diarrhea, fatigue, and weight loss. Other complications can also be related to celiac disease, causing anemia, rashes, fatigue, headaches, and joint pain.

You may have non-celiac gluten sensitivity or gluten intolerance if your symptoms are not as severe. These symptoms can be similar such as stomach discomfort, tiredness, headache, or bloating but are more manageable.

There is no way to confirm this diagnosis, so patients often try to eliminate gluten from their diets for at least two weeks to see if symptoms subside.

Other people may have a wheat allergy where their bodies produce antibodies to proteins found in wheat which causes an allergic reaction. This can cause a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.
