No, Garlic is a no-n0 before the colonoscopy. Besides that, valerian root, garlic, and ginger are also a big no. Why is that so?

On The Second And Third Day:
There are no changes in your diet for the second and third days prior to your colonoscopy. Choose items from the Colonoscopy Diet Sheet based on low residue and easily digestible items.
However, you will have to increase your liquid intake. This should better be pure water. However, you can choose any liquid from the abovementioned tables.
Once again, ensure that the liquids you consume are clear and juices have no pulp, while you dont try to substitute any item from the list.
At the end of the third day, you will not consume a low residue colonoscopy diet and start getting ready for the day 4 routine.
What Did It Find
- There was no significant difference in the proportion of patients whose bowel preparation was adequate to carry out colonoscopy .
- Significantly more patients in the low residue diet group reported being able to tolerate the dietary preparation than in the clear liquid diet group OR 1.92, 95% CI, 1.36 to 2.70.
- Significantly more patients in the low residue diet group also reported being willing to repeat bowel preparation using the trial diet compared with the clear liquid diet group OR 1.86, 95% CI, 1.34 to 2.59.
- Rates of adverse events were not significantly different in either group , though these were assessed in only three of the nine studies.

What Did This Study Do
This systematic review included nine randomised controlled trials that assessed the adequacy of bowel preparation when people ate a low residue diet the day before colonoscopy, compared to when they drank clear liquids only. Low residue diet meant low fibre food such as noodle soup, energy bars or apple sauce. Both groups also took laxatives, though the preparations used varied between trials. The outcomes examined were patients reported tolerance of the dietary preparation, patients willingness to repeat the diet and laxative preparation and adverse effects.
The review was carried out to a high standard, including a thorough search for trials and detailed assessment of their quality. However, none of the included trials were performed in the UK and none of the trials reported all the outcomes of interest, which limits the applicability of the findings.
