Is Zero Sugar Soda Better For You Than Diet
Coke Zero does not add nutritional value to your diet, and the long-term effects of drinking diet sodas are still unclear. If you want to reduce your sugar or regular soda intake, opt for healthier, low-sugar drinks like herbal tea, fruit-infused water, and black coffee and leave Coke Zero on the shelf.
Diet Coke And Coke Zero In Your Diet
The first red flag that comes up when exploringthe challenges of Diet Coke and Coke Zero comes from comparing them to regularCoke, which is why discussing artificial sweeteners was a logical startingpoint. However, this avoids the question of how these products affect your dietoverall. A person choosing a low-carbdiet is presumably doing so for the health benefits of that choice, includingbut not limited to weight loss, diabetes, heart disease or even acne. Diet Cokeand Coke Zero have no carbs, but that may not matter if they have consequencesthat cancel out the benefits of a low carb diet.
One article at therenegadepharmicist.com wentinto great detail exploring the potential problems of diet coke, including ananalysis of what happens one hour after drinking a can of diet coke. Tosummarize, after drinking a can of diet coke, over one hour of time a personexperiences the following:
- Phosphoric acid attacks your teeth
- Artificial sweeteners may cause your body to think it had sugar, activating insulin and triggering fat storage, with possible negative effects on diabetes, blood pressure, and heart disease
- Caffeine and aspartame both may begin to cause addiction
- After some brief satisfaction, the drink may cause you to crave more soft drinks or other sweets, causing a vicious cycle
The author also relates that these effects canbe extended to other related sodas, including Coke Zero.

Which Is A Better Choice
There are very few differences between Diet Coke and Coke Zero. As such, there is no concrete, measurable reason to suggest that one is superior to the other.
Nutritionally, there are no significant differences. Their ingredient and caffeine contents are similar as well, so neither is healthier than the other.
Remember that diet soda is not considered a healthy drink. Its a fun treat that can be consumed in moderation and switching from original sodas to diet ones is a great starting place if youre trying to cut back on added sugars.
Whichever you choose will depend largely on which tastes better to you. Coke Zero has been said to taste more like regular Coke, but some people feel differently and even prefer Diet Coke over regular Coke.
The best choice will depend on your taste preferences. There are no significant differences nutritionally between Coke Zero and Diet Coke.
With the conflicting evidence surrounding artificial sweeteners, you may be wondering how you can get your fizzy fix while limiting your artificial sweetener intake.
Here are some ideas you can try:
There are many alternatives to diet or zero sugar sodas. Kombucha, sparkling water, and sodas sweetened with plant-based alternative sweeteners are all similar in flavor without containing artificial sugars.
Fanta Orange Zero Sugar
Fanta is known for their fun fruit flavors. From Pina Colada to Strawberry and from Fruit Punch to Grape, Fanta has many tasty flavors to pick from. Each one of them is entertainingly joyous in its own right. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Fanta’s diet options.
In the United States, the most prevalent diet soda by Fanta is Fanta Orange Zero Sugar. While it’s better than the previously mentioned diet drinks on this list, there’s nothing fun about it. Instead, it’s a mediocre drink that basically tastes like carbonated Tang that has been watered down so much so that you can barely taste the orange flavoring.
Hopefully, one day, Fanta will learn how to bring their collection of fruit flavors to the world of diet sodas. But as it stands, it’s obvious that they haven’t figured out how to do that. When you’re in the mood for a fruity Fanta drink, your best option right now is just to drink a regular Fanta and forget all about the diet options.

How To Make Diet Coke Chicken
Prepare the chicken thighs by trimming any excess fat and seasoning the skin with salt and pepper. I prefer to use skin-on, bone-in thighs. Place them in a hot skillet, skin-side-down, for five minutes or until starting to crisp up. You can skip this step if using skinless thighs.
Transfer the chicken to a small baking dish and roast in a preheated oven for 15 minutes.
As soon as you’ve got them in the oven, start the sauce. Wipe any excess grease from the skillet, then add the diet coke or cola, together with some tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and some liquid smoke. Cook over a medium-high heat and let it bubble.
This sauce ends up quite like a BBQ sauce, so I think the liquid smoke really adds something. Let the sauce reduce down until your 15 minutes is up with the chicken.
Remove the chicken from the oven and carefully drain any excess fat. Pour the sauce over the chicken and return it to the oven. Cook until an internal temperature of 165F is reached. Timings depend on your oven temp and size of chicken pieces, but it will probably be about 10-15 minutes a probe thermometer is very useful.
Transfer the cooked chicken to the serving plates and pour some of the sauce over the top. Garnish with parsley.
Serve with salad or side dish of your choice cauliflower rice would be great! Challenge anyone who didn’t see you cook it to guess the secret ingredient!
Cook Time: Total Time:
- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in, skin on, excess fat trimmed
- salt and black pepper
The Truth About Diet Sodas And Zero Sugar Drinks
Drinking diet beverages or other beverages that contain artificial sweeteners can sound like a smart, easy way to cut calories and lose weight. But its not the magic bullet it might seem.
About 30 percent of adults and 15 percent of children in the United States regularly consume artificial sweeteners, primarily in the form of diet sodas, no-sugar beverages, or as no-calorie sweeteners in coffee or tea. These drinks are sweetened with products that usually include aspartame, sucralose and saccharin, and come with health consequences.

The Best And Worst Sugar
If you are seeking a sugar-free alternative to everyday cola soft drinks like Coke and Pepsi, your options abound. You will get the maximum pep in your step from Pepsi Zero Sugar, which has the most caffeine of any widely available soft drink on the market, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Pepsi Zero Sugar also offers a natural energy boost from ginseng, an herb that can be found in energy drinks, too. In terms of flavor, most people consider Pepsi Zero Sugar to be a huge upgrade over Diet Pepsi recent recipe changes to the decades-old, sugar-free soft drink resulted in an “undrinkable” beverage, Fox News reported.
Seeking a diet soda that tastes exactly like Coca Cola Classic? Coca Cola Zero Sugar is a dead ringer. Coke’s other incredibly popular sugar-free alternative is Diet Coke, which actually tastes nothing like regular Coke! Depending on who you ask, this is either a very good or very bad thing, as Cosmopolitan points out. When you get bored of plain cola flavor, you can find flavored versions of Coke and Pepsi’s diet drinks. The picky epicurean magazine Food & Wine raved about Orange Vanilla Coke’s Zero Sugar version for hinting not-too-subtly of vanilla. Cherry-cola soda seekers, meanwhile, will find much to love about Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry .
Which One Contains The Healthiest Artificial Sweetener
There don’t seem to be major differences between aspartame and acesulfame potassium when it comes to nutrition and potential health risks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean either is particularly good for you.
“Both are generally recognized as safe, per FDA standards, however, safety concerns remain,” Chong said. Some health and wellness experts, like those at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, recommend you avoid both aspartame and acesulfame potassium altogether, but studies conducted have been too small and inconclusive.
You might have noticed a warning regarding phenylalanine right below the ingredient list on both sodas. The Mayo Clinic says the amino acid is not a health concern for most people, but it can be a serious health concern for those who have the genetic disorder phenylketonuria . Phenylalanine is found in aspartame, so that’s why you can spot that warning on both Diet Coke and Coke Zero Sugar.

Ask The Experts: Diet Coke Vs Coke Zero
Q: Id like to know if Coke Zero or Diet Coke is better to drink. I realise that Coke in general is not the healthiest choice, but Id like to know if I do choose to drink Coke, which one is best?
A: We asked nutritionist Amanda Johnson to respond.
Coke Zero and Diet Coke are actually very similar. Both are low calorie drinks and have exactly the same ingredients carbonated purified water, colour , food acids , flavour, artificial sweeteners aspartame and acesulphame potassium , preservative and caffeine. The key difference between the two drinks is in the proportions of these ingredients, giving each has a slightly different flavour profile.
There is a little difference in nutrient content: both provide less than 4kJ energy and have less than 40mg sodium per 250ml . So, between these two choices, its really a matter of which one you prefer! If you are watching your sugar and energy intake, either of these will be better than the standard Coca Cola, which contains 450kJ and 26g of sugar in 250ml.

Diet Coke Vs Coke Zero Taste Test
I chilled cans of both Diet Coke and Coke Zero, and drank them with no ice, so they wouldnt be diluted.
Sipping Diet Coke reminds me of what a huge advance it was back in the 80s. Its smooth and sweet, and my first thought isnt, ugh, yeah, this is a diet soda. Its enjoyable, its bubbly, it goes well with a meal and is refreshing by itself. Ive never confused it with a full-sugar Coke, but its still a top-notch diet beverage.
Coke Zero was reformulated last summer, and in my Coke Zero review, I wasnt afraid to say I didnt love the new formula. I found it almost sour, with a spiciness that older Coke Zero didnt have. And maybe its changed, or maybe Ive changed, but I didnt taste that sourness this time. Coke Zero was smoother and sweeter than Diet Coke, and I even found it more bubbly.

Diet Soda Vs Zero Sugar Soda
The word diet may be disappearing from shelves and replaced with zero sugar. So what does this mean? Basically, its a marketing overhaul. Soda companies want to actively move away from the word diet on products to appeal to more new customers. Its a common thing for companies to assess their products and adapt to the changing world around them. And diet sodas in general have started selling at even higher rates in the past few years.
Since younger generations are starting to become their own consumers , many companies have decided to opt for the zero sugar label. Coke Zero, Dr. Pepper Zero, Sprite Zeroyou get the idea! But dont worryyour favorite diet soda isnt going anywhere.

These Are The Diet Sodas You Should And Shouldn’t Be Drinking
If you are trying to cut back on sugar and calories, diet soda sure beats the real thing! A 20-ounce regular Coke has 240 calories and 65 grams of carbohydrates, all of which come from sugar, according to the Coca-Cola website. In comparison, Diet Coke and Coke Zero Sugar are free of calories and sugar. However, not all diet sodas taste that good and some bear almost no resemblance to the regular sodas from which they are based. For example, Diet Mountain Dew only looks and smells like real Mountain Dew. Flavor matters the most, though, and Reddit has panned the soft drink for its “horrible, strong chemical taste.” Plus, until recently, the soda contained bromine, a substance that, in high quantities, has been linked to memory problems, skin lesions, and nerve disease, according to Scientific American.
On the other hand, Diet Dr. Pepper rivals the flavor of regular Dr. Pepper, with Fast Food Geek describing the slightly cherry-tinged cola as “world renowned for its rich flavor for a diet drink.” The blog had similar praise for Dr. Pepper Ten, a ten-calorie-per-serving version of Dr. Pepper, but alas: sales never took off for this version, which was targeted specifically at men . So which other diet sodas should you crack open when you are craving some fizz and which ones fall a little flat in the flavor department?

It Drives Our Bodies To Make Insulin
Insulin, secreted by the pancreas, is how the human body stocks sugar. When the flavor of artificial sweeteners strikes your brain, it automatically transmits a signal to your pancreas to start making insulin.
Insulin informs our cells to either benefit from sugar or reserves it as fat.
Without it, our bodies cannot process the sugar that anchors in our bloodstreams. When your pancreas makes insulin to deal with regular sugar, no sugar comes, and it mistakes your body and disrupts its metabolic function.
This body reaction may clarify why several analyses have displayed a link between regularly sipping diet soda and metabolic syndrome, a cluster of symptoms that contains a larger waist rim, more elevated blood pressure, and more high blood sugar.
Different Cold Drink Options In Low
Being realistic, it is not a likely outcome thatone will simply stop drinking soda, whether sugary or diet, if there is nothingto fill that gap. A cool, tasty beverage is a great accompaniment to meals, andoften a treat in its own right. If Coke Zero and Diet Coke, as well as othersodas, are something we should ideally not have, or have rarely, then what isthe best alternative?
Immediately, water is a great option. A surveyin the late 90s found that many Americans experienced ongoing minordehydration. It is likely that many of us do not drink as much water as weshould, so trading out soda for water would be a good thing overall for ourhealth.
Drinking water and regular hydration, aside frombeing at a certain level simply necessaryto live, provide a number of health benefits:
- Stayinghydrated allows us to have our best physical performance, as we offset thenatural dehydration that occurs from sweating during exercise and physicalactivity.
- Dehydration, even in mild cases, can cause us to experience reduced concentration, worsenedmood and even headaches.
- Drinkingwater can also help relieve digestive challenges, such as constipation, andregularly drinking water along with alcohol can offset the symptoms ofhangovers.
- Perhapsmost relevantly to those on a low-carb diet pursuing weight loss, drinkingwater can aid in losing weight by increasing a persons metabolism and burningcalories .
